I don't think it's NECESSARY that every new zombie movie try to reinvent the wheel...it's perfectly fine if someone just wants to make a traditional zombie film, and do it well. In an isolated rural community of Quebec, Canada, some inhabitants attack other people, hungry for human flesh. But I also find that it should have been a considerably better movie with a better script with actual story progression and stronger characters. However, onto the movie itself it's beautiful! In terms of story, it's your straightforward group-of-survivors-trying-to-avoid-being-picked-off-by-Zombies tale, with not a lot of narrative flourishes, but in terms of style, it's beautifully shot and framed, remarkably edited (the opening scenes are a montage of short tableaux that really create a haunting sense of widespread breakdown) and some surreal touches to the zombies, which are runners, seem to feel pain, have a dull intelligence of a sort, and a zombie religion.

Personally I love watching horror movies in another language with subtitles, I don't know why it's just interesting. And it's terrifying, because the fantasy of zombie stories is basically "everyone else stops being a person, and life gets simple, and I can kill whoever gets in my way and take whatever I want." P.S. Is there anything more ominous than an old man eating a pickle in a forest? 2017 Having said that, it's not that you don't care for some of the characters here, it's just that they're completely one-dimensional.
