The album titled "The Remedy" was released on June 21, 2011. Back To Our Regularly Scheduled Programming, The 112 vs Jagged Edge VERZUZ battle deserved to be more epic than what it was.
We were at our height and 1/2 of the stuff we intended to release was released in 2014 on Ace / Big Beat Records out of the UK 45 years later. The album “A Jagged Love Story,” was released July 30, 2020. Somewhere around that time I discovered I could more than carry a tune…I could actually sing. United Sound Studios, Detroit on second ave. Analog…4 track…I don’t know how many hours…based on my voice being a bit more gravel-ish than usual…we probably were on day 3 and probably stayed up the whole time and never got to the mix stage except on “Chasing Rainbows” which is the most popish tune I had at the time and that was gonna be the lead 45. The album's single "Walked Outta Heaven" performed well on the charts, reaching number 6 on the Hot 100 and number 2 on the R&B charts. They got a hell of a lot more out of “house banding” the Grande than we ever did “house banding” the Nothland Mummp…bigger cool factor there. Hard and Jagged Edge followed, respectively, in 2003 and 2006. (Forgot to mention even at this time the Jagged Edge as well as the MC5 were still booking high school dance gigs! What I know for sure as we never went back to United Sound to finish recording and that finished the band. We could sing and play…do you know what was outrageous?
The music scene was my transistor radio. Listening to the MC5 on that LP is enjoyable, there was a lot more “craft” to some of their songs than you would think…now that I can hear them we considered Jim Osterberg (Iggy Pop) a performance artist…Not a musician. After a few short minutes, we were back to regularly scheduled programming, but there were still a bit of static and sound issues - so much so that even Keri Hilson suggested to “take the live away from the speakers” and Jasmine “Golden Barbie” Sanders concurred. I despise DJ music and if it had to be auto tuned it never should have been produced. Jagged Edge signed to Dupri's Columbia-distributed So So Def label and in the summer of 1997 released their debut single, "The Way That You Talk," featuring appearances by Dupri and Da Brat; it reached the Top 40 of the R&B chart and was also a pop chart entry.
Hell, James Brown did it at the end of lots of his records. I was playing the blues in bars and immediately hooked up with him in the late 1990’s. They were actually live tracks…good for us.
