This is Duncan's first feature since Passion, his 1999 biopic about the composer Percy Grainger and it is a lot tighter than anything he has done before. She is on the run from local pub owner (Billie Brown) who forced her into prostitution. It may be a small film, but it has a big story to tell. The taciturn and pragmatic farmer doesn't seem very affected, but when the Afghan refugee slowly but surely starts getting involved with housekeeping, he thaws. Writer/director Peter Duncanâs decision to adapt the film to a rural Australian setting works very well, the tranquil scenery of the country giving itself to be captured by a good cinematographer, and it does by Robert Humphreys.

Hendrickx, who starred in the original film, is a grave, dark-haired beauty with an engaging sense of mischief, which makes a nice foil for the McInnes gruffness.
Ever since John’s wife died in suspicious circumstances, he has become a recluse. He may have the looks of a future Aussie star, but that’s the actor, not the farmer. Now he and Tahmeena begin gradually to enjoy the homestead together. However, a switch in direction to action territory in its final act ruins the powerful and sombre tone set before hand, swapping realism for generic plot devices.
