The Dead Room is a well-written and fast-paced crime thriller reminiscent of movies like "Kiss the Girls" and "Silence of the Lambs". For me this was a 2 day read and only 2 days because I had to work,otherwise it would have been a one day read. The writing was superb and plot was intense. The Dead Room has been around since 2012, published by Robert Ellis himself, audiobook released in 2015 and narrated by Jim McCance. I totally did not expect the ending, cried like a baby!

The genre is 'apocalypse survival' which I feel has been done a bit to death recently, however this offers an interesting twist by setting it on an island far after the 'event' has happened. I say this because, in the end, the darkness that pervades the story is so horrendous that it’s difficult to have any sense of having enjoyed it. I decided to start with The Dead Room and see where it took me.
